 Kachki Macher (Ganga river Sprat) Chochori



INGREDIENTS :

                     Kachki Mach -300 grams

                     Onion - 2 medium sizes, thinly sliced.

                     Green chillies - 100 grams thinly sliced lengthwise

                     Green coriander leaf -20 gms finely chopped

                    Tomato - 2 medium sizes. Chopped

                    Garlic - 1 (12 cloves)big bulb chopped finely

                    Garlic paste -1 tsp

                    Ginger paste - 1 tsp

                   Cumin Powder- 1&1/2 tsp

                   Red chilli powder - 1 tsp

                   Turmeric powder - 1tsp

                   Nigella seeds (black cumin/Kalonji) - 1 tsp

                  Mustard oil - 2 Tbsp

                 Salt - As required

METHOD:

  •                In a Kadai / frying pan add mustard oil, when it starts fuming add the Nigella seeds.
  •               Add chopped onion and green chillies, fry it a little till the onion changes its colour, add                chopped garlic and fry a little more.
  •              Now add the tomatoes and put salt, stir for a while and cover it.
  •              Open the cover and add all the dry spices/masalas and stir for a while till spices are fried               nicely.
  •              Add the fish into the spices and fry it, then cover it for a while and fry it till it starts                         leaving oil. Since this fish is very soft it should not be stirred much, over stirring will                     break the fishes.
  •              Serve it hot with boiled rice.

 Moong Dal With LAU (LAUKI) :YELLOW LENTIL WITH BOTTLE GOURD. A very old and traditional bengali recipe. Mostly prepared during summers , it is said that this dal keeps the body cool and prevents us from heat. This is a very light to stomach recipe with minimum ingrediants.
